Want to really speed up your Computer....

As you are reading this blog I assume you must be knowing atleast a little about computer and Internet...Here are some tips to make your PC faster........

(Note:The following steps are for Windows Versions from 98,XP,2000 and also Vista)

1: If the day you installed your operating system is before a month or more,then try the following maintainance tips.........

A> Use a registry cleaner tool such as CCleaner (Search it in Google and you wil find a free download or directly go to their website http://www.ccleaner.com/ and download the software).

B>The same software can also be used for cleaning out your temporary files(junk on your computer, invalid shortcuts (which load into your ram during loading of Desktop and slower your computer more), etc. to increase the efficiency of cleaning.

C>Then after all the cleaning its time to defragement your hard disk...(Your Hard disk becomes fragmented when you install and uninstall new or more and more softwares .The number of files the softwares copy to your harddisk ,i.e. allocating them to your memory space,during installation fragments your hard disk and when you uninstall the softwares they leave out the segmented or truncated memory space behind).
    So, its your job to eventually (say once in a month) to defragment your hard disk.

HOW to do So?
    
If you are running windows then there is an inbuilt functionality called Disk Difragmenter
which can be used.

To use this goto All Programs>acessories>System Tools> Disk Difragmentor.

Click on it to launch it.Choose your desired drive and click defragment.This will take considerable ammount of time though,so you can do other works while this is running or let it run overnight.

D>If you are not very much dependent on windows Search facility,then you can disable the background running service known as Search and Indexing service,(which always accesses your harddisks and tries to create an updated index all the time,making other programs slow generally).

To disable it right click on My Computer>manage
in the newly opened window search for the Services and applications or Services in the left pannel.Click on it.
You will observe a list of all the services running  or not running on your computer.Search for an item there named as windows search or Search and indexing service.Right click on the service and select properties ,in the start up type box select Manual (rather than automatic as it was previously).

Now this will disable the service from being started manually and you can experience a noticable increase of your computer's performance.
